And despite the best efforts of some to stop the top knot, it seemed to dominate the fashion scene, with many-a-boy, man, and beast adopting the bun.

After a Photoshopped picture of Donald Trump sporting a man bun went viral, our design community imagined other politicians with a similar haircut.

The world was then introduced to a real-life hipster Santa in Portland, Oregon.

So now, with the holiday celebrations winding down, we wondered how a whole line-up of classic festive characters would look if they now found time to get to the hairdressers for a hipster make-over.
