Techcrunch Disrupt SF 2013 is over for another year. The event is followed by the global media and the world's top tech investors, and gives bootstrapped startups unparalleled exposure and opportunity. In this post, we're going to check out the vent and highlight the best, average and ugly startups logos from Disrupt SF 2013 Startup Battlefield contenders.
Aussie Startup Pair Cause A Stir
What would Disrupt be without at least one controversy and this year's was a doozy. Techcrunch was obliged to make a public apology when a pair of Australians pitched a controversial, silly and offensive app to an audience that included women (gasp) and a 9 year old girl (who was there to pitch her product). The crowd took to social media in droves to vent, and media and tech commentators rolled their eyes at how the organizers would let the pair pitch this product in the first place.
And the winner is... Layer!
After 30 pitches, the $50,000 top prize was won by the team behind the scalable communications platform called Layer. In a nutshell, Layer enables web and mobile app developers to integrate communications functionality or 'layers' - text messaging, voice calls, video file and photo sharing - in ten lines of code or less, saving developers time and money. Find out more about Layer here. The contest's runner up DRYFT, is a cusom tablet keyboard app for Android that learns the user's finger movements to reduce typing errors, thus improving productivity. We love the product the logo landed on the average list. Check out the 6 finalists here.
